While it may be a hard time to give money, some local businesses in Portland, Maine were able to give the Salvation Army real estate…in the form of pizza boxes and coffee cups. Fifty area businesses agreed to post Salvation Army ads wherever they could like shopping bags, store windows, and more.
Neat idea, right? This grass roots campaign helps to increase the awareness of the Salvation Army while staying true to the organization’s mission that the money should go to services, not advertising. 83 cents of every dollar donated to the Salvation Army goes to help people in need of food, shelter, rehabilitation, elderly services, and disaster assistance.
