Marathon Miracle Posted by Giulia Rozzi on May 15, 2009 at 7:33 pm

Next time you want give up and say ” I can’t” remember this story.

Major Phil Packer completed the London Marathon, regardless of the fact that the soldier lost the use of both his legs during a rocket attack in Iraq. Although doctors told him that he would never walk again, Packer went through months of strenuous physical therapy and got back on his feet with crutches. And with those amazing feet, Packer walked the entire 26.2 mile London Marathon to raise money for Help for Heroes, a nonprofit organization that provides aid to disabled servicemen. Because Packer was advised by doctors not to walk more than 2 miles a day, it took this brave man nearly two weeks after the race’s official end date to cross the finish line. Packer says:

“The greatest realization I’ve had doing the marathon is that regardless of what happens to you in life, there are still major goals you can set yourself, and major achievements to be made,” -Telegraph UK

Packers efforts have paid off as he has raised more than 630,000 British pounds ($1.25 million) for Help for Heroes and hopes to raise a total of one million pounds by July 1st. (Check out the video after the jump)
