Eating meat contributes to climate change in a big way, and as I mentioned earlier, simply by skipping meat one day a week you can drastically reduce your carbon footprint. Oprah and Michelle Obama are getting on board with eating less meat, so why not give it a go yourself for Earth Week? You may surprise yourself and find you don’t really miss the stuff. And if you do eat meat, try to make sure it’s coming from a local and sustainable source. To give you an idea of the absurd amount of meat that is produced in this country, and consequently the carbon footprint that is created, check out this visual:
