Arrested Development Creator’s New Animated Show Hits the Airwaves Posted by Andy Kondrat on April 20, 2009 at 10:06 am

We love us some Arrested Development here at TakePart, and have been waiting, patiently (or, not so patiently) for the movie to finally make our lives so much better. So far though, we have gone without. Yet, last night, I sat down to watch Fox’s new animated show Sit Down, Shut Up, as I knew that a few Arrested voices were playing roles. And, imagine my shock and delight when I found out the executive producer of the show, and the man responsible for updating the original Australian show for America (and thus given “creator” credit), is none other than Arrested’s creator, Mitchell Hurwitz!

And, because of that, I figure this is a great chance to show you the pilot of the show - see if you can pick out Jason Bateman (Michael on Arrested), Will Arnett (Gob), and Henry Winkler (Barry Zuckerkorn). I will warn you - the show got a TV-14 rating, and that was probably lucky. It’s probably something you don’t want to get caught watching at work. I think the screen capture that Hulu gives us makes that pretty clear.

I think it’s off to a good start, and the animation style is pretty novel. Anyhow, I think it’s something to keep watching and see how it goes, or how soon Fox cancels it, because they hate Mitchell Hurwitz. Anyhow, Fox has launched a new “Green It, Mean It” campaign for this year’s Earth Day, so takepart with their site.
