The other day I discussed how carbon soot from cooking stoves in developing countries is a surprisingly major contibutor to climate change, as well as a health risk. I’m excited to see that there are a variety of new stoves that provide a safer, more environmentally sensitive alternative, including the Surya project that I mentioned. The New York Times have provided a helpful update, which includes the Kyoto Box Solar Cooker featured here:
As mentioned in the NY Times article this stove may not provide a solution for every village, but it’s encouraging to see a wide variety of options depending on the needs of the home using them.
