It makes me a bit sad to realize that Warren Beatty is actually 72 years old - somehow I think I’ve always secretly thought he was ageless. Perhaps that’s because he has always exuded a sense of youth no matter how may years he had under his belt. Another interesting thing about Beatty that I realized today is that he hasn’t made a ton of films for someone that had his first major role back in 1961’s Splendor in the Grass. I suppose this is because so many of his few roles are so memorable.
Major films since then include my favorite of his (and of Robert Altman’s films) McCabe & Mrs. Miller, Bonnie and Clyde, Shampoo, Reds, Dick Tracy and Bulworth.
Check out one of those films today (including an amazing trailer from McCabe and Mrs. Miller below) and then takepart with Paul Newman’s Painted Turtle Camp - a camp for children with life-threatening diseases. It is a charity that Mr. Beatty openly supports.
