EcoFont, a new environmentally friendly typeface, is designed to use up to 20 percent less ink, reducing the amount of waste we create when printing and saving you the hassle of constantly replacing cartridges. Spranq, the clever Dutch design company that created Eco-font, found a way to use the minimum amount of ink while keeping the text readable by using small circles within the letters. The font is excellently free to download, and looks pretty spiffy to me. And you have to love their tagline:
After Dutch holey cheese, there now is a Dutch font with holes as well.
Of course, the environmental benefits of using less ink are even greater if we had access to plant-based inks for our home computers. Individuals and businesses can also make a huge difference for the planet by printing only when really necessary and by purchasing unbleached recycled paper.
takepart by downloading EcoFont and takepart by using Earth911 to find a place near you that recycles ink cartridges.

It is also really beneficial to the environment to use remanufactured ink and toner cartridges. They provide the same print quality, last longer, and cost less than manufacturer ink. Each cartridge remanufactured keeps about 3lbs of plastic out of our landfills and saves using 3 gallons of oil to make a new cartridge. Contact me with any questions at amanda@jetscape.com
