Although Bernie Madoff has been trying to protect his wife and her fortune, federal prosecutors said that they would seek the forfeiture of property owned by Ruth Madoff. Yup, Ruth could lose it all from her multimillion-dollar homes (including a $7 million apartment in Manhattan; a $3 million house in Montauk on Long Island; an $11 million compound in Palm Beach,; and a $1 million house in southern France) all the way down to her silverware.
I am usually a pretty sympathetic person, but I feel not one ounce of pity for Ruth or anyone who was involved in stealing so much from so many. These thieves are gross, gross, gross! Did I mention GROSS? And evil. And pitiful. And have no heart, soul, or ability to feel human compassion.
For a while I thought a Ponzi scheme was something sneaky done by Fonzi and Potsie from Happy Days (anyone else?). While I know now that Henry Winkler and Anson Williams did not in fact have anything to do with thousands of innocent victims loosing their life savings (phewww), I’m still sorta confused by how this whole scam went down. takepart and learn about Ponzi schemes.
