I agree with L Jewitt. Can these EDAR units be beefed up to withstand a northern winter?
The idea is great but seems more suitable for moderate to warm climates.
can they be combined to provide shelter for larger families?

This is American Ingenuity on how we should tackle homelessness???? Why not recycle some refrigerator cardboard boxes, with glued on styrofoamed walls for insulation. Now that’s dignity, self-worth, and a fine way to make someone feel valued and a part of our community!!!
Come on… get out of the 70’s and 80’s shelter mindset… there are better solutions that bring real hope and meaningful change. Search Permanent Supportive Housing or check out examples on the Corporation of Supportive Housing website. We hold 48% of the world’s wealth, while being only 2% of the world population. We can treat our poor, sick and mentally ill better than a tent on wheels!

What a great idea. Just off the top of my head i would be curious to know if there is an easy way to attach EDARs together to create multi-rooms for families, some kind of “foam inserts”" that can be added for colder weather, different colors - or other ways to personalize it, a way to attach it to a bicycle or other means of pedal power, and a dedicated space within communities where these can be parked for the night and monitored overnight for safety.

I applaud all of you.

I am absolutely amazed at the small number of people that have commented on this invention.
I believe this is the single greatest invention of 2009. How can we get this out to people who live in very cold climates, PA, CT, NJ, etc.? How can we make the government pay for these units and help the banking bailout victimized homeless.
We must all fight to get the word out about this and push the government to stop the banks making money on the backs of this economic tragedy.
