Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Green Drinks Posted by Giulia Rozzi on March 17, 2009 at 10:34 am

Want to celebrate St. Patty’s with a green drink? Try one these celebratory beverages, and make them even greener using organic ingredients.

Green Beer: All it takes is one 12oz. Beer (any beer will do although lighter colored beers will display the green better. Try an organic beer like Peak Organic) and one drop of green food coloring.

Irish Whip: For this fun beverage I found on sheknows.com you’ll need
* 1 oz. vodka (perhaps Square One organic vodka)
* 1 oz. Pernod
* 1 oz. Bacardi rum
* 1 oz. crème de menthe, green
* 1 part lemon-lime soda
* 1 part orange juice (like Organic Valley orange juice)
* lime
Directions:
1. Pour the vodka, Pernod, rum and crème de menthe into a pint glass or beer mug with ice cubes.
2. Fill with equal parts of soda and orange juice.
3. Stir well and garnish with lime.

Spinach Banana Smoothie : For a non-alcoholic treat try this surprisingly good (according to Recipezaar) healthy drink. You need-
*4 cups raw baby spinach (go for organic greens of course)
*vanilla yogurt, 1 serving (Like Stonyfield organic yogurt)
*1 ripe banana
* water or milk, if needed to thin
1.Place 4 cups of spinach into a blender.
2.Pour yogurt over the spinach.
3.Slice the banana and put that into the blender, too.
4.Blend for about 1-2 minutes. If the mixture seems too thick to blend, add water accordingly!
5.You can also add milk instead.

And if you really want to have some green drinks with fellow green folks, takepart and check out Green Drinks. Every month Green Drinks organizes informal Green Drinks sessions all over the world where people who work in the environmental field meet up and make connections.
