Climate Change and Urban Sprawl Fueled Atlanta Tornado: ITOTD

Climate change and urban sprawl created the ideal conditions for an unexpected and vicious tornado that ripped through Atlanta last March according to climatologists at Perdue University. Clearly we need to take a closer look at the relationship between urban development and climate science, if we are to adequately prepare for harsher weather patterns due to the growing climate crisis. The study indicates that developers should utilize more green spaces in cities to avoid urban heat island, which contributed to the tornado. Check out this snazzy video that the researchers designed to show how the tornado developed (oddly, there is no sound):
