Al Gore Joins Fight to Create .eco Web Domain Posted by Andy Kondrat on March 9, 2009 at 9:13 am

Hey, did you catch when Vice President Biden called the recovery website “recovery.com,” but it was actually “recovery.gov,” until the government just up and bought the “.com” domain from the company that owned it? Well, specifically to confuse Biden more, a company called Dot Eco LLC (Limited Liability Company and not Limited Licensing Company like I thought until I looked it up just now) has teamed up with former Vice President Al Gore and his Alliance for Climate Protection to work to create the “.eco” web domain. So, already in this story, we have three different domains, two vice presidents, and one run-on parenthetical. This is too much for a Monday morning.

Anyway, per Yahoo! news’ business section (via Ecorazzi), we have this information regarding what the .eco will actually entail.

.eco will be established for individuals to express their support for environmental causes, for companies to promote their environmental initiatives, and for environmental organizations to maintain their websites in a namespace that is more relevant to their core missions. By charter, a majority of the profits of the .eco initiative will be distributed to support environmental causes.

I’m not actually sure how this lobbying will take happen, as I’m still not sure who owns the Internet and gets to make these decisions. I heard somewhere, though, that Al Gore invented it, so this should take no time at all.

You can takepart with Dot Eco LLC, though there really isn’t too much info at the site, so perhaps you might like to takepart and learn more about Al Gore and An Inconvenient Truth?

If you would consider looking at my website you may find a profitable solution that works is easier than you think. My pine trees grow at a rate of 3-4 feet per year making it possible to make enough feedstock for a fuel-energy operation using a type of gasifierI found that was built, tested, then shelved & forgotten. This device uses no oxygen, hence the gasification process produces no extra fumes, just breaks the feedstock into 2,000 degree gases which can be fed thru a water fed heat exchange creating steam to drive the generator while separating the gasses by weight and temp. so they can be recombined into the fuel desired. The ash is mixed with the excess wood feedstock, and you have the fertilizer that made the trees grow so fast.See http://www.environment-innovation.com.

I like the Idea keep it going Al Gore. Please try to communicate to our local NGOs involved in the fight against global warming to be more flexible and not always thinking they know everything because we are the people on the ground and we can always do alot even advise since we dont have resources. a lot of changes are taking place and aparently these foreighn NGOs have special interests in our natural resources. Please keep us informed about other projects and free workshops which are affordable by poor people like us. Talking about workshops based on enviromental protection.
