On Tuesday Michael Eisen and Lawrence Lessig asked people to help stop Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) from passing a bill that would “result in a lot of government-funded research being published exclusively in for-profit journals — inaccessible to the general public.”
They asked people to do two things
1) To take action now and join their donor’s strikeÂ
and
2) To call Congress
Well since Tuesday people have been doing just that with “over $100,000 in donations being withdrawn from opponents of reform–bringing the strike’s current total to $981,000.” Also many people have called Conyers to express their opinions on his opposition to “open access.”
He hasn’t responded yet which means people need to continue to take action - so please takepart to join the donor strike!
