Celebrate International Women’s Day with A Powerful Noise Live! Posted by Danny Jensen on March 5, 2009 at 7:09 pm

Apologies for the late notice, I just learned about this, but check it out if you can!

Tonight, in select theaters nationwide, there will be a special screening of the  documentary A Powerful Noise, followed by a live town hall discussion with leading humanitarian experts and activists including Dr. Helene Gayle, Madeleine Albright, Christy Turlington Burns, Nicholas Kristoff of the NY Times, and Natalie Portman.  A Powerful Noise Live celebrates International Women’s Day and highlights the important role women play in bringing lasting solutions to global poverty.

An official selection of the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival, A Powerful Noise follows three extraordinary women — in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Mali and Vietnam — as they overcome barriers to lead day-to-day battles against ignorance, poverty, oppression, and ethnic strife.

takepart by attending one of tonight’s special screenings and submit a question to the panelists now.  And after the jump watch the full trailer for the film:

For women. May we stand up and be counted!

Sofia’s Song
Inspired by Darwin, Divinity, and the Dance of the Cosmos
by Bruce Sanguin

Dear Mystical Rose, watch over US now. We seek out your wisdom. To US please endow,
Knowledge and foresight so that we can vow, to push aside hate. To LOVE we will bow!
Mankind is in trouble. He’s killing our earth. We need to find peace, compassion, and mirth!
Please send me your GRACE. I know what it’s worth! Sofia, do we face chaos or rebirth?
Your feminine power is loving and wise. Please help US to tell the truths from the lies.
We want to understand your heavenly ties, that bind all together on earth to your skies!
We need to have faith, have hope and be strong. Many have waited and prayed for so long.
Wise women can help fix all that is wrong. I offer these words…..my Sofia’s Song!!

Love Lora Bruncke
