Meghan McCain Blogs About Problems With Dating and Her Dad and More Posted by Gina Telaroli on March 3, 2009 at 11:35 am

So apparently being the daughter of someone who lost the Presidency means your dating life sucks - well if you are Meghan McCain?  In what must be one of the most ridiculous, whiny things I have read in some time Meghan McCain complains that she can’t date people who voted for Barack Obama and that she also can’t date people who voted for her dad.

Going on actual dates is even harder. One way or another, the election always comes up. If a guy starts speaking strongly in support of President Obama, my mind starts wandering. If he’s such a huge supporter, how much does he dislike my father? Is he a huge anti-war advocate and does he know I have two brothers in the military? But then, again, there go my father’s supporters. Now let me be clear: My family and I will always be grateful for all the wonderful people who supported my dad and the campaign. Still, when it comes to my personal life, I don’t want to date someone who idolizes my dad.

While I am sure dating in general is hard when your parents are famous in some respect, Meghan kind of goes overboard.  Just because someone voted for John McCain doesn’t mean they idolize him and just because someone voted for Barack Obama doesn’t mean they hate everything you stand for.   I mean I’m sure there are some creeps out there who do fetishize Miss McCain - but come on now - saying that you can’t date anyone with a little but of a political opinion is a bit much. And I don’t really feel bad for you.

Dating is difficult for everyone.  We all have our things that are hard to compromise on.  I for example have to deal with guys who like bad movies, which is just as personal to me as I’d imagine Meghan McCain’s dad is to her.  However, I imagine that dating might be little easier (or I could focus more energy on it) if I didn’t have to worry about my rent (I don’t know if the McCain’s support Meghan, they do have 7 houses) or if I had a name that granted me access to jobs and people that could help me get ahead.

At the very least I think she should stop her whining.  I kind of can’t believe I read her entire post.

Sigh, please please please takepart to and read something that matters.
