Last week at about this time I was complaining about The Oscars “In Memoriam” presentation.
It seems I wasn’t alone in my sadness/anger that we couldn’t really see the montage - one of Roger Ebert’s latest pieces featured a youtube clip of just the montage (the way it was meant to be seen) along with the following text “A moment of peace: The “In Memoriam” montage we missed”
Here’s the video, which got me a bit choked up (its amazing how being able to see something can change its impact)
Also this time around I got really sad when I saw clips of Roy Scheider from All That Jazz - mostly because All That Jazz deals with a man coming to terms with his death - and that man is played by Roy Scheider. I couldn’t help but think of the last big musical number from the film, in which Scheider’s character basically says goodbye to life.
Head after the jump to see the clip I speak of and also be sure to takepart and support one of the amazing ventures from one of my favorite folks in the “In Memoriam” montage.
