Enough Rope: Limbaugh Repeats Wish to See Obama Fail Posted by Jon Popham on March 1, 2009 at 7:34 pm

In a speech before CPAC Saturday, conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh, in no uncertain terms, repeated his desire to see President Obama fail.  The remarks followed outrage over Limbaugh’s first expression of the sentiment on his popular radio program in January.  Check it out:

What strikes me as most telling about these comments, aside from the seemingly non-stop hatred and immaturity this guy wields to make a very handsome living, is the first analogy in his explanation of the comments.  Limbaugh compares wanting President Obama, and therefore (despite the fact that he can’t bring himself to recognize this) the country to fail to his wish to see Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals fail when they squared off against his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers in this year’s Super Bowl.  The obvious character flaw of being a Steelers fan aside (I kid, sorta), what we have in this metaphor sums up the worldview of Rush Limbaugh: that everything is about him wanting his team, conservatism, to win.  Fortunately, the American public has moved on from this hyperpartisan version of reality, and is ready for pragmatic solutions that work, from a government that behaves like adults.  You can see as much expressed in the clip of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel below:

Rush, you chubby drug addict
Nobody wanted GW to fail, we only expected that he would. And guess what, we were right on, he failed in a monumental way. Swallow your bloated pride and admit it. You wanting Obama to fail is just a commentary on your myopic approach to the well being of America. You care nothing for America, you care only to have your party win, at whatever cost to the people. Well we all would love to see your career fail, because we do care about the people of america first. Damn the parties, up with the people. Fade away gracefully you political dinosaur.
