Midwest Teen Sex Show Vs. The Internet Posted by Danny Jensen on February 26, 2009 at 12:47 pm

No, you don’t have to send the kids out of the room, in fact, The Midwest Teen Sex Show is actually good for them.  That is, of course, unless you happen to be Facebook, Myspace, or Youtube, all of which have been removing episodes of the smart, funny and informative sex education web series.  The show address questions that teens (and grown-ups, too) have about sex with an intelligent, safe and youthful attitude, which viewers aren’t going to find in the dark recesses of the internet or the locker room.  And, yes, the topics are discussed in a frank, sometimes racy way, so you probably wouldn’t want to watch them in your office cubicle, but the show is certainly not pornographic, and definitely does not need to be banned from social networking sites.  Kids need to be better informed about sex and sexuality, and The Midwest Teen Sex Show delivers in a way that no droning health class teacher ever could.  Here’s what Nikol Hasler, one of the show’s creator and host has to say about it:

The internet is full of sex, and a lot of it is unhealthy and a whole lot of it is aimed at the same people we are trying to spread a more open and safe message to. We’re not changing the name of the show. We’re not going to stop talking about these things. I have seen time and time again how our show has impacted parents, doctors, educators and teens and no generic social networking site (especially one on which I have seen profile pictures of people nude) has the right to tell us we are violating their terms without telling us specifically how that is happening.
