When Conan O’Brien did his last Late Night show on Friday, it was a sad day for many of us, but one that has the more-than-silver lining of Conan taking over the Tonight Show come June 1. During the final show, former sidekick to the show Andy Richter was the only guest (not counting the music of the White Stripes), and it was wonderful to see the two reunite again.
Here’s where all this is going: Andy Richter is going to rejoin Conan O’Brien as the announcer of the new Tonight Show. I am going to type that again so you know you’re not dreaming: Andy Richter is going to rejoin Conan O’Brien as the announcer of the new Tonight Show. This is the best news I’ve heard since, well, yesterday, actually. Here’s a little something from Conan about this development:
“Andy is one of the funniest people I know and we’ve maintained a close friendship since he left ‘Late Night,’” said O’Brien. “We have a proven chemistry that will be an incredible asset to ‘The Tonight Show.’ I’m looking forward to working with Andy on a daily basis again, particularly since he owes me $300.”
Richter will also participate in sketches, says another website which seems not to be working at the moment. But, basically, what I’m getting at is that this is just one more reason to get amped for The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.
Unfortunately, this probably means that Late Night announcer Joel Godard will not be coming to the new show (though Max Weinberg and the Weinberg Seven certainly are), and Joel has been more than amazing in his role as announcer and creepy dude. Here’s a tribute to Joel from Conan’s final episode.
But, yes. Andy Richter. Teamed up with Conan O’Brien once again. And all is right with the universe. takepart with Green is Universal, and learn about NBC’s green campaign.

I just hope it was Joel’s decision not to go to the Tonight Show. He’ll be dearly missed.
