Late Night with Conan O’Brien Signs Off Tonight Posted by Andy Kondrat on February 20, 2009 at 1:38 pm

Today, we mark the end of an era as Late Night with Conan O’Brien signs off after sixteen years in the 12:35 slot on NBC. I think it’s only fitting that, in memorial, we watch one of the best Late Night clips ever. This is not debatable (both watching the clip, and agreeing it is the best ever).

I had the pleasure of attending a taping of Conan ten (10) years ago, with the star-studded lineup of Tony Randall, Tori Spelling, and Moby. Of course, it was brilliant. Conan will be away from television for a few months as he prepares to take over the Tonight Show. While this is a great thing because 1) I’m pretty sure he deserves it, and 2) it means he’ll no longer be rivaling Craig Ferguson (who is absolutely hilarious), we have downsides in 1) Leno’s moving to 10pm, effectively a) screwing up NBC’s prime time and b) making Conan follow up Leno again, and 2) giving Jimmy Fallon a late-night television show. The hell, NBC? That means that for an hour and a half every night, NBC is showing, back to back, Fallon and Carson Daly. Hmmm.

Anyway, check out Conan’s final show tonight (or tomorrow on Hulu), and in the spirit of baseball, takepart and learn about Major League Baseball’s partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of America.
