The Oscar’s seem to get more Green every year, and while this year’s awards ceremony may not feature Leonardo DiCaprio’s Prius, a talk from Al Gore or guidance from the NRDC, there are plenty of efforts under way to make the Academy Awards more sustainable. So, to recognize those eco-efforts, I’ve created a set of Green Oscar predictions for awards that you won’t see anywhere else, but really should.
1. Best Green Oscar Pre-Party:Â Global Green USA
The Vanity Fair party may be recycling their decorations, and the Governor’s Ball will feature local and sustainable food, but nothing beats Global Green USA. Tonight’s gathering will benefit the construction of green schools in New Orleans, and feature super celebs like DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, Penelope Cruz, Kate Bosworth, Marisa Tomei, Sheryl Crow and the list goes on. For a preview check out Causecast’s video:

2. Best Climate Change Documentary Too Late For This Year’s Awards:Â Fuel
Fuel looks amazing, but we’ll have to wait until next year to see if it will be recognized by the Academy:
3. Best Commentary on the Destruction of Our Planet:Â Wall-E
I still think Wall-E should have been included in the Best Picture category this year. It would have had tough competition, but I think the film took animation to a new level, while also offering a whimsical, yet poignant glimpse at what the future might hold if we continue to abuse the planet.
4. Best Food Justice Documentary: The Garden
As someone who is starting a garden on a community plot in Los Angeles, I feel particularly passionate about the theme of The Garden. The film, which is actually nominated for the Best Documentary category, follows the plight of LA residents who must battle the city in order to keep growing food for their families:
5. Best Documentary about Industrial Agriculture:Â King Corn
We are big fans of King Corn here at Take Part, and I think more people should have a chance to see this frightening and hilarious examination of the corn industry. Corn is more a part of your life than you might think…
takepart by getting involved with Global Green and green your Oscar Party.
