White House Launches Recovery.gov Posted by Jon Popham on February 18, 2009 at 8:58 am

recoveryThe White House has launched the new website recovery.gov to help Americans keep tabs on the economic stimulus package.  The online portal will serve as an interactive tool providing transparency to the American public as to how their tax dollars are being utilized from the mammoth American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed into law yesterday by President Obama.

Currently, with funds yet to be disbursed, the website lists the projections as to how money will be spent as outlined in the original bill itself, the full version of which is also available on the site.  In the weeks and months to come, the website will publish precisely how, where and when funds out of  the stimulus package are spent, allowing for the public to track their money as it makes its way out into the economy at large.  This website is a giant step forward for government accountability and transparency utilizing today’s information technology to provide people with data that would have taken years to research in the past. You can  by logging onto recovery.gov.
