Serious Materials, a company that develops and manufactures green building materials, is quickly expanding their operations, giving me hope that we can rebuild the economy and heal the planet by focusing on environmentally conscious companies that provide green-collar jobs. I’m amazed by how much green building materials can drastically reduce our carbon emissions, according to Serious Materials:
The ‘built environment’ is responsible for 52% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide – which compares to only 9% from cars and light trucks.
Their website also has a cool eco-tracker that shows how much energy, money and CO2 they are saving. Companies like Serious Materials and EcoWall (which I wrote about last week), reduce the carbon footprint of producing building materials as well as the environmental impact of the structures once they are built, with features like energy saving windows and EcoRock drywall.
