Gallup Poll on Stimulus Shows Obama Beating Up On GOP Posted by Jon Popham on February 9, 2009 at 12:23 pm

gallupA new Gallup Poll on the Stimulus Package shows President Obama beating up on the Republican Party in the court of public opinion.  67% of poll respondents approved of the way the President was handling the stimulus legislation, with 25% disapproving, while a mere 31% approved of the way Congressional Republicans were handling the effort, with a whopping 58% disapproving of The Party of No’s efforts to obstruct the package.  That 58% Disapproval rating isn’t quite as bad as George W. Bush’s Disapproval rating upon leaving office, but it’s getting there.

Of those polled, 51% stated it was “critically important” that the government pass an economic stimulus plan, with 29% saying it was “important, but not critical” and only 16% stating it was “not that important”.

Despite high hopes by the GOP that they had swiftly “found their voice” in regards to their legislative stance up against a Democratic administration in this new session of Congress, their first major (lack of) initiative has met with a resounding thud with the General Public.  Sitting on our hands and watching Congress do nothing is not an option at this point.  The majority of Americans want their stimulus and they want it now.  You can takepart in getting a responsible stimulus package passed quickly in Congress by contacting your Representative and Senator.
