The new series “How’s Your News?” airs tonight, Sunday at 10:30 p.m. on MTV. How’s your News began as a video class at a summer camp for people with disabilities over ten years ago, now the MTV series will show these enthusiastic young journalists as they interview celebrities, politicians and folks on the street. Much of the cast was also featured in the documentary of the same name. Check out the promo:
Some fear “How’s Your News?” is designed to ridicule its cast (partly due to the fact that it is being produced by the creators of South Park). But producers say “How’s Your News” aims to show how its cast has a sense of humor especially about their own disabilities.
… just because people have special needs doesn’t mean the material always has to be reverently handled, the producers say. “This is not something that needs to be thought of as a PBS special,” says executive producer Matt Stone, who, with Trey Parker, is also part of the team behind “South Park.” “This is actually good. This is good, and this is as good as anything on television.” -courant.com
After reading the reviews and seeing that adorable promo it looks like “How’s Your News” might just be a cool show. I’m just hope it radiates vibes of feel-good and not feel-gross, considering it’s the same channel bringing you such “quality” programming like “Next” and “Bromance“. Remember when MTV used to have all those really great, newsy/current event shows? Luckily it still offers some educating and inspiring programs like “Made” and “True Life“. Perhaps “How’s Your News” is a step toward that kind of innovative, brain stimulating programming MTV was once known for and not just another crappy contrived waste of thirty minutes like “Paris Hilton: My New BFF“.
takepart and check out How’s Your News.
