I’ll admit, I should have left the office by now. But I can’t stop following the tweets from #TED that keep rolling in on my newly installed Tweetdeck. It’s been an obsession of mine since the conference started on Tuesday night.
So before I leave for the weekend, I just had to make sure you knew about Dickson Despommier’s vision for the future of agriculture (think high-rise vertical soilless farming) and Nathan Wolfe’s talk on how the most undiscovered organisms on the planet are viruses and bacteria. Then there was designer Jacek Utko’s talk on saving the newspaper industry through design (Utko: “To be good is not enough”). Oh, and how could I forget the tweets about Mary Roach’s X-rated presentation about pig orgasms, inappropriate to post here but worth searching out (Disclaimer: Must be over 18 years of age.)
Come Sunday, the TEDsters will have left Long Beach and returned to their respective cities, and I can finally leave my desk and head home myself. Maybe next year I’ll #crashTED.
