Murderball

Murderball is an Oscar® nominated edge-of-your-seat documentary about full-contact wheelchair rugby played by quadriplegic young men. In the film, we follow a competition between USA and Canada and along the way get to know families and girlfriends of the USA team members, the history of their disability, how they cope with life in a wheelchair and most importantly, the sheer joy and pride they feel when playing the sport.

These young men are “gladiators on wheels.”  Tough, funny, inspiring and they don’t want your pity - they just want to win. What I love most about this film is that it doesn’t feel like a documentary about disabilities. “We’re not going for a hug. We’re going for a f*%#ing gold medal,” says one player in response to a comparison of the Paralympics to the Special Olympics.  If you haven’t seen this mesmerizing film, don’t wait!
