You may have noticed that we here at Take Part are a little honey bee crazy, but with good cause: bees disappearing from Colony Colapse Disorder would be devestating for all of us, which is why the work of Bees Without Borders is so important. This amazing organization teaches beekeeping skills in economically depressed areas all over the world, providing a stable form of income for poor families and safe homes for bees.
Bees Without Borders was started by Andrew Cote, a Fulbright Scholar, professor and fourth generation Conneticut beekeeper, and provides the materials and training neccesary for participants to keep bees, harvest honey and make and sell related products. Check out this video from Time Magazine about the program:
Awesome, right? And by the way, did you know that honeybees can count?
takepart by supporting Bees Without Borders and go pick up some delicious local honey for yourself.
