Pro-choice advocates have weathered a fierce battle for decades to ensure that women’s reproductive health rights are protected. Prior to the Supreme Court ruling 36 years ago that guaranteed abortion rights, women were confined to back-alley dangerous abortions. While the past eight years have been especially brutal for choice advocates, we’ve all made it through that time with abortion rights still intact, despite many legal and physical challenges.
Today is the 36th anniversary of the historic Roe v. Wade ruling. But, don’t assume that women’s rights are safely guarded. There continues to be legal actions to overturn Roe v. Wade, intimidation of doctors that perform abortions and physical threats to abortion clinics. The Feminist Majority continues to work tirelessly to ensure that clinics remain open and safe to women who choose to visit. takepart to support their efforts to keep women’s health clinics safe and accessible to all.
