I am surprised and quite sad that the only oscar nomination for Revolutionary Road is for Michael Shannon. He was wonderful and deserves it, but nothing for Director Sam Mendes? Adaptation? or Kate Winslet? This film was remarkably honest. A harsh look at relationships, regret, and eventual self loathing. I am shocked and a bit appauled that Curious Case a fairly inaccurate and dumbed down version of the short story beat out a truthful and very reflective view of American society. My only guess as to why….Brad Pitt?
Rev Road also got nods for art direction and costume design.
That being said I was sad that the film didn’t get more recognition - esp for Leo. I figured Kate might only get one nomination, so it makes sense to not see her nominated for Rev Road specifically, but Leo was great and really should have been nominated (esp over Pitt for Button)
