Ok, so it’s a long title, but this is really fascinating. The folks at Read Write Web have used Wordle to create a Word Cloud comparing Obama’s inaugural address to Bush’s second inaugural speech, and other previous Presidential speeches. I took it a step further and used the word clouds to compare Obama’s speech to Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a dream speech”, which was delivered from the steps of the Lincoln Monument over 45 years earlier. It’s fascinating to see similar themes stand out in both and which words show up more prominently (dictated by how often they appear in the original text), like peace, freedom and nation. Check it out:
