Drop in U.S. Air Pollution Linked to Longer Lifespans Posted by Danny Jensen on January 22, 2009 at 12:59 am

Those of us concerned about the health effects of air pollution can breath a little easier, now that a new study indicates a recent drop in air pollution in the U.S. is helping people live longer.  Even smoggy, industrial Pittsburgh’s cleaner air means people will live 10 months longer on average.  While I’m sad to think sunsets here in Los Angeles may be a little less colorful, my lungs are certainly thankful.  I just hope Bush doesn’t try to take credit for the improvements.  Now that Obama has taken charge efforts are already underway to undo the damage done to clean air laws by Bush, in particular California is hoping Obama will reverse the Bush administration’s denial to regulate tailpipe emissions.
