Obama’s EPA Nominee Believes in Science and Climate Change: ITOTD Posted by Danny Jensen on January 15, 2009 at 8:57 pm

Lisa Jackson, Obama’s nominee to head the EPA actually believes in climate change and plans on protecting the environment, a dramatic shift from the science-hatin’ gang of the Bush Administration.  (This, of course, is one of those “Convenient” Inconvenient Truths of the Day) Even many climate change skeptics endorsed her nomination, despite Jackson’s plan to quickly and aggresively pursue stricter regulations for CO2 emissions, as well as other environmental protections rolled back over the past eight years.  And you have to love this comment from Environment and Public Works Chair Barbara Boxer:

I’m reminded of Sleeping Beauty … who needs to be awakened from a deep and nightmarish sleep…I am confident we can wake up the EPA and the CEQ to their critical mission of protecting health and the environment.

I’m also encouraged by Jackson’s commitment to addressing the recent, disastrous coal ash spills.  She will certainly have her work cut out for her, but hopefully she will help establish the United States as a world leader in combating climate change.

takepart by learning what you can do to help combat climate change.
