As the clock ticks down to Obama’s inaguaration, many people are hoping that the President-Elect will literally turn over a new leaf at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. by planting an organic garden on the front lawn of the White House Two organizations, Eat the View and The Who Farm have proposed the brilliant “Victory Garden’s 2.0″ plan to Change.org’s Ideas for Change in America, and have garnered huge support from the online community, placing it in the top 30 of over 7000 ideas. With a few more votes it will make it to Obama’s desk before his inauguration.
I’m really excited by the prospect of a greener White House and would gladly throw on my gardening gloves to help dig in. It would certainly be more enjoyable than when I went to D.C. to protest Bush’s inauguration. Check out a video about the Who Farm’s efforts:
The Presidential farm would symbolically represent a fresh approach to”climate change, health policy, economic self-reliance, food security, and energy independence” for the incoming administration, according to the proposal, and provide food for the First Family as well as local food pantries. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time the White House has had a food garden, but it couldn’ come at a better time.
takepart by casting your vote for Victory Garden 2.0 to make sure it is included in the Top Ten Ideas presented to Obama before the inauguration.

Would it be appropriate to plant some COTTON? I’m sure they could
find many out of work citizens to pick it!
It sounds like a great idea, and one of the links even mentioned an “Organic” garden, but does anyone know if this is true? I really hope so!
GM seeds, including “suicide seeds” are a danger to us all. Congresswoman Rosa De Lauro is the sponsor of HR 875, the (so called) Food Safety Modernization Act that threatens to destroy organic farmers and even backyard gardiners via threats of gigantic fines and massive red tape. If you care about organic farming or want to prevent a GM food monopoly, then find out more about this Bill!
Hey Anthony, thanks for the info! Yes, fighting the GM food monopoly is very important.
