Steven Soderbergh is celebrating his birthday today - and I in turn am celebrating the work of Steven Soderbergh.
I don’t know if there is anybody else out there that has managed to make so much progress in the indie world (Sex, Lies and Videotape) and Hollywood (Oceans 11 etc) without compromising either. Most recently Mr. Soderbergh gave us the incredible Che - a film that everyone should find 5 hours to see. It mixes the best of his Hollywood films (big action, beautiful cinematography) with the best of his indie films (it’s a 5 hour film about revolution.. ie a film about ideas not plot per say). It is also a film about the willpower it can take to change our world.
So Happy 46th Mr. Soderbergh! And for all of you watch the Che trailer below and then takepart to read up on Bolivia today and to see the complexity of the country.
