We all have a place that is special to us in America; perhaps it’s where you grew up, went on your favorite vacations or had an impressionable experience.  Wherever and whatever it is, it has shaped who you are. For historian Howard Zinn, it’s Selma in 1963. Writer Frances Fitzgerald says she is fondest of New York’s Grand Central Station while civil rights activist, Roger Wilkins says the monuments in Washington, DC made lasting impressions on him when he first moved to the city to work for the Kennedy Administration.
Read Progressive Book Club’s list of other notable Americans most important and memorable places in our country. And, takepart to share your favorite place with other readers!
