The CDC has reported an outbreak of salmonella food poisoning that has sickened 338 people across 42 states, and the source is still unknown. This particular outbreak, which began in September, is linked to poultry, cheese and eggs, but the exact sources are difficult to track. I mean, can you remember exactly what you’ve eaten over the past few days and where it all came from?
40,000 cases of salmonella poisoning are reported yearly, but people often can’t what might have caused them to get sick. While the CDC warns against consuming raw and undercooked meat and eggs, unpasturized dairy and unwashed produce, I think your best bet is to learn more about where your food comes from. Contamination from salmonella and E. coli often originate from industrial-scale farm where health and safety concerns are often overlooked.
