Apparently someone hacked the Twitter accounts of Britney Spears and Fox News.  For those of you unfamiliar with Twitter, it is an online site where you can post updates as to what you are doing and folks who “follow” you can read them.  Likewise you can read the updates of all folks you follow.

The Fox News Twitter account put out a message saying “Bill O’Riley is Gay (it seem the hacker can’t spell though) and the Britney Spears Twitter account put out a message that is kind of inappropriate.  Read it HERE.

I can’t help but find this a little amusing, especially the Bill O’Reilly hack.  It kind of illuminates how silly all these status updating sites are (even though I too use them) and provides a reason for us to think about 1) why we care what Britney Spears, Bill O-Reilly or anyone is doing all the time and 2) how secure are all these sites that we pour our personal info into?

On a side note, Barack Obama’s Twitter was hacked too - but just to promote some sketchy survey.
