Your Awesome Sunday Awesomeness Comes From Jarvis Cocker, of Pulp Posted by Andy Kondrat on December 28, 2008 at 6:03 pm

Awesome Sunday vegetarian that makes awesome music is once again upon us, and I’m really excited to tell you that today we feature Jarvis Cocker, of Pulp. The band was formed thirty whole years ago, when Cocker was a mere 15 years old. They’ve been on “extended hiatus” since 2002 (much like other formerly featured bands Fugazi and blink-182), but man, they made some good music when they were together. Here’s a live version of “The Fear,” originally off of This Is Hardcore.

Here is one of the songs (I think) Pulp is best known for, which is called “Common People.” I can’t remember what album it’s off of at the moment, but youtube tells me it came out in 1995. So, there’s that.

I was debating which video to show next: this one, called “Like a Friend,” or the one below, and I decided for this one because the “Like a Friend” video seems to be promoting the movie Great Expectations, and I figured we didn’t need that today. Besides, the song below, “Dishes,” is awesome because Cocker starts the song with the line, “I am not Jesus, but I have the same initials.” Yes.

One more thing I won’t put on the site, because it’s CERTAINLY not child appropriate, is Cocker appearing on The Ali G Show. It’s great. But, R-rated, for sure. Anyhow, I hope you enjoyed watching those videos as much as I enjoyed picking them out, and, of course, takepart to get your free vegetarian starter kit.
