Joe Biden Puppy Scandal Gets Worse Posted by Gina Telaroli on December 16, 2008 at 4:50 pm

puppyI like Joe Biden. Despite his gaffs and strange smile, teeth and hair, I think he’s a pretty good guy. So it made me sad to read (as Andy wrote earlier) that the puppy Biden recently acquired actually came from a breeder, and more than that, it came from a breeder who may have been a puppy mill operator (investigations are still underway).

Apparently the Biden camp is trying to buy some animal cred by pointing out that his cat Daisy was adopted and that Biden has a history of standing up for animal rights in the Senate. To that I say, practice what you preach! Of course, PETA and the Humane Society are upset with all of this , the Humane Society says:

We are surprised that Sen. Biden chose to purchase a dog from a commercial kennel since he has been a leader on animal-protection issues and has championed a number of important animal-welfare reforms in the Senate … President-elect Obama can send a stronger message of hope and change for animals by adopting a homeless dog from an animal shelter or rescue group.

Yes, let’s hope Obama doesn’t follow in these puppy footsteps.  I seriously don’t understand people’s hesitance to adopt animals. They will love you the same and you’ll be saving a life. Isn’t that more important than having the prettiest dog? I think so - so takepart to find your nearest animal shelter.

I believe your comment ” I like Joe Biden. Despite his gaffs and strange smile, teeth and hair, I think he’s a pretty good guy” is superficial crap. Why would you point out someone’s physical characteristics? It is who Joe is. But I would like to point out that the Biden’s are great advocates of animal and human rights, having adopted others, and especially VPE Biden’s record shows this. His wife asked a K9 officer to find the breeder and a top notch puppy…please, let Joe Biden enjoy his little puppy. Champ (his name) will give Joe much need comfort as they grow together. Way too many individuals and groups jumped on this without thought, and that is what saddens me. Those of us who know them, know that Jill will be adopting a large dog for herself in the near future. Bless these people.

It is interesting to see how much news coverage of this presidential office there is compared to previous. This story has interested me even more so than usual seeing the hypocritical side of our government officials. It would have been most prudent for Joe Biden to adopt a dog from an animal shelter being a leader of animal-protection issues. If I were in his shoes, I would because I don’t care about being elite. It is important to point out these inconsistencies in our government officials for future reference. However, it is disconcerting to hear of threats from activists and mistreatment of the breeder by authorities. Come on people! We are adults. This is not the manner in which we should be treating each other. Yes-there should be animal rights. Let’s also remember that there are far more important issues to ‘be up in arms’ about.

With all the problems were facing in the world, where Joe Biden bought a puppy from is
really pretty petty.
The folks at PETA need to get a life. I think its the lack of animal fat in their diets.

i seriously agree, what kind of dog joe biden got is no ones business but his own, PETA needs to get a life, if he wants a german sheperd let him buy a german shepard, thats what the akc recognizes Pure Bred dogs, for their pedigree. I cant beleive this world has come to such bs.
