Mumbai at Night
Terrorist attacks today in the Indian Megalopolis of Mumbai have killed at least 78 people. Teams of armed gunmen specifically targeting American and British tourists attacked luxury hotels and tourist attractions throughout the city in at least 7 separate coordinated assaults. A previously unknown group calling itself Decca Mujahideen has taken responsibility for the attacks, but the claims are unverifiable amidst the chaos.
There have been reports of hostages taken at both the Oberoi and Taj Mahal Hotel. The latter hotel also has one older wing burning after an explosive was set off in it earlier today by the terrorists. Reports from guests of the Taj Mahal Hotel who escaped say that gunmen entered the building and repeatedly asked who there had US or UK passports. In another attack at the Chhatrapati Shivaji rail station gunmen sprayed bullets into the crowded terminal killing and injuring people indiscriminately.
Details are still emerging from this tragic story coming right on the eve of the Thanksgiving holiday. You can takepart in trying to empower positive young leaders from the most troubled regions of the world in order to foster understanding thoughout the globe by logging onto Seeds of Peace.
