As if the Internet couldn’t feel more invasive. More creepy. More dangerous. Nineteen year old Abraham Biggs of Florida killed himself on Nov. 19 live in front his webcam. Biggs blogged about his suicidal thoughts on an online body-building message board and linked them his page on Justin.tv (a live video streaming Web site) where he filmed himself overdosing on prescription pills.
And that’s not the only sad thing, apparently readers of his blog were encouraging Biggs to kill himself.
“People were egging him on and saying things like ‘go ahead and do it, faggot,’ said Wendy Crane, an investigator at the Broward County Medical Examiner’s office. According to Wired magazine, online viewers watching the video ranged from “OMG” — Internet slang for oh my god — and LOL — an abbreviation for laughing out loud. - ABC News
Do it faggot? LOL? What is wrong with people? Really? How could anyone reply to this poor kids suicide in such a heartless way?
Biggs had also posted a suicide note on a body-building forum, which has since been taken down, in which he wrote, “I hate myself and I hate living.”
