Once I got into a fight with a dumb drunk girl who was taking photos of me and my boyfriend at a bar. Previous to the photo shoot she thought it was hilarious to continually pinch my boyfriends butt. When we finally told her to lay off my man’s behind she began taking our photo. I snagged her camera from her paw and told her she had no right to take my picture. Her inebriated retort was “I can do whatever I want!” Which made just want to do whatever I wanted which was punch her in her smug, stupid, slurring mouth. Luckily I was still one beer away from illogical violent reactions. So instead, I tossed her camera back at her and screamed “I hope whatever you want to do is get a life purpose instead of bothering strangers, you pathetic a**hole!” (Yeah, you showed her!)
So I can only imagine my reaction to the paparazzi if..rather..when I become a super successful actress (yay positive visualization!) I would hate, hate, hate to have photogs stalk my every move. ( This why I want to only be mildly successful and recognizable. I want to be the next door neighbor on a sitcom. I want someone to see my and say “hey! Isn’t that the really really really funny chick from ______? I don’t remember her name per se but man, is she even prettier in real life!” )
So I’m not surprised that Kayne West got mad at a photographer who was all up in his face outside a Newcastle nightclub. Kayne says he simply put his hand out to block the lens from capturing a shot. However the injured freelance photographer, Terry Blackburn claims Kayne purposely and forcefully pushed the camera into his face cutting Blackburn’s nose open. When West returned to the hotel following his arrest, he was of course, welcome by more paparazzi trying to get a shot of West getting out of the police van. Kayne west has not been charged for assault but he does feel reputation damage has been done.
West said “Let us not forget that the paps killed Princess Diana. When will there be a law passed… that someone has to ask to take a photograph of you? That would seem like common courtesy. What should be illegal is pictures taken with the intent to sell - like drugs with the intent to sell.I am not a celebrity,I am a normal person that’s just famous. I refuse to sneak in and out of back doors and kitchens of hotels.” -BBC
Agreed Kayne. And while we may not be able to control paparazzi, we can honor Princess Diana who sadly was a victim of our obsession with celebrity. takepart and visit The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund at http://www.theworkcontinues.org/. The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund is an independent grant-giving charity established in September 1997 to continue the Princess’s humanitarian work in the United Kingdom and overseas.
