Hey Bostonians, got a swimsuit, Santa hat, and a pair of sneakers? Then you’re all set for the Santa Speedo Run! This annual charity event began in Boston in December 2000 with five runners, now the Santa Speedo Run has included thousands of participants over the last eight years. Each runner is asked to raise at least $250 in donations and must wear a
Speedo-like bathing suit and a Santa hat. (Additional holiday flair is allowed and encouraged). Here is footage from the 2007 run.
Over the past 8 years, the run has raised over $240,000 for various charities
This year’s run will raise money for Cradles to Crayons,an organization that provides, free of charge, low-income and homeless children from birth to pre-teen the basic essentials they need to be safe, warm, ready to learn and valued. They take their efforts a giant step further by creating meaningful, tangible volunteer opportunities for thousands of youth and adults each year.
The run will take place on Saturday, December 13th. Registration starts at 10:00 am, with the run starting at 1pm. The 1.25 mile jog will start and end at Lir, 903 Boylston Street, Boston with party, raffle, and giveaways to follow.
