Your Sunday Evening Vegetarian of EXTREMELY Awesome Awesomeness is the one, the only, the incomparable David effing Bowie. This man is brilliant. And you know that. I mean. Just listen to “Life on Mars.”
I’m pretty sure I can’t really explain to you, in words, how incredibly talented I think Bowie is. The fact that he could get so huge being so counter-cultural says something about his music. Here’s “Oh, You Pretty Things,” live.
And, oh my goodness, how could I write about David Bowie without writing about one of the greatest songs ever. “Space Oddity.”
And, of course, Bowie has spawned fans. If you saw The LIfe Aquatic with Steve Zissou, you heard Seu Jorge, a Brazilian singer/songwriter, cover some Bowie in Portuguese. Here’s his version of “Life on Mars.”
And, just for fun: The Flight of the Conchords did a song called “Bowie’s in Space.” It’s a pretty good knock-off of Bowie’s music.
So, there’s some Bowie for you. It’s probably not enough Bowie, but it’s a start. And, as always, takepart to get your free vegetarian starter kit.
