Prop 8 Protests Posted by Danny Jensen on November 6, 2008 at 4:46 pm

As I got ready for bed last night I heard the continuous flutter of helicoptors, and checked the news to discover a massive protest against the passing of California’s Proposition 8 roaming the streets of Hollywood.

What began as a relatively small gathering of supporters of same-sex marriage, quickly escalated into a peaceful march of nearly 2000 people, with similar numbers reported in San Fransisco.  There were only a few arrests, with one report of a protester being tackled by police and another of a man jumping on a squad car.  Hopefully peace and organization will prevail at the rally planned for this afternoon.  While the passing of Prop 8 comes as terrible news to supporters of equal rights for gay couples, there is hope that a few pending lawsuits, including one from the ACLU, could overturn the measure.

takepart to help ensure that same-sex couples are afforded the same Constitutional rights as heterosexual couples with Marriage Equality.

I live in California and am appalled by the passing of prop 8. I can not believe in 2008 people voted to include prejudiced in the constitution. I just can not express how disappointed I am in my fellow California’s. If this has to go all the way to the Supreme Court it has to be stopped. It is time for us all to be equal in all ways.
