Today is Columbus Day - a holiday I am somewhat conflicted about.    Of course Columbus “discovering America” means that you and I are able to be here  but it also meant that an entire group of people were almost wiped out - which I don’t feel good about celebrating. But as my good friend Annie pointed out, what might be worth celebrating is the spirit of exploration.

She also pointed out that Columbus brought plants back to Europe that they had never seen before - which is actually kind of amazing.
