Looking for some new digs, but not sure what to do with all the junk that’s accumulated over the years?  Why not make a house out of all that trash?!  The folks over at International Listings have highlighted the 10 Most Amazing and Beautiful Homes Made of Trash to inspire you to make the most of your refuse.  Now, before anyone makes some inappropriate trailer trash jokes, check out these truly amazing homes made out of everything from common garbage pickin’s like plastic bottles and rubber tires, to industrial-scale detritus like airplanes and shipping containers.  As a Boston native, my personal favorite may be the Big Dig house, which is made of materials salvaged from Beantown’s behemoth highway project.
Even if we do our best to reduce, reuse and recycle (and compost!), we are still left with items that don’t seem to have a home. Â Well, now they do!
Learn more about where your trash ends up with Elizabeth Royte’s fascinating book Garbage Land. Â And I highly recommend watching The Gleaners and I and PBS’s Affluenza to find out more about where that junk could go.
