Connecticut Overturns Same Sex Marriage Ban Posted by Gina Telaroli on October 10, 2008 at 2:04 pm

A ruling in Connecticut today overturned a same-sex marriage ban by a vote of 4-3, making CT the 3rd state to allow same sex marriage.

Today is really a great day for equality in Connecticut, said Bennett Klein, senior lawyer at Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, which argued the case before the Supreme Court. Today’s decision really fulfills the hopes and dreams of gay and lesbian couples in Connecticut to live as full and equal citizens. [NYTIMES]

Judge Richard N. Palmer wrote, segregation of heterosexual and homosexual couples into separate institutions constitutes a cognizable harm, in light of the history of pernicious discrimination faced by gay men and lesbians, and because the institution of marriage carries with it a status and significance that the newly created classification of civil unions does not embody.

Woo hoo! To celebrate takepart and vote NO on Prop 8!

In nature males and females come together via strong attraction in order to procreate. It’s called biological destiny. The survival of the species. In it’s purest form, homosexuality would cause the end of civilization. Homosexual behavior is not in the interest of survival. No one knows why people are gay; I believe they’re born that way, that there’s a misfiring of signals which we know nothing about so far. I do not believe in the Biblical condemnation of homosexuals. But I’m against gay marriage because I think societies need their long-standing traditions, such as marriage between a man and woman. Such institutions provide a common frame of reference, something everyone understands and can count on. Such traditions are unifying. When two women stand at an alter, both wearing white wedding gowns, one of them carrying a bouquet (why only one?), they look foolish to me. I think, what a farce. They’re worried about status? I think gays and lesbians should get their own traditions - there is no reason why two different ones cannot exist side-by-side and be equal. Being able to “marry” will change nothing. Those who don’t see them as equal never will.

What Our Love is Made Of
Thomas Donovan’s break-through release, What Our Love Is Made Of, is a dance/electronica arrow aimed at the heart of social injustice. The video is high-energy media activism blurring the distinction between music video and social justice documentary. The dramatic footage is shot amidst a gay marriage rally, featuring Thomas’ acapella rendition of What Our Love Is Made Of, police defense lines, public displays of men kissing, colourful pro-rights flags and emotionally charged gay rights activists brandishing signs emblazoned with ‘Marriage 4 All!’, ‘Hate is not a family value’, and ‘Gay marriage is legally just’. This video goes beyond freedom of expression and has been featured on gay, and leading television programs.

The year is 2008 I agree with most of the people who feel that gays and lesbians have a right to be together .Everyone enjoys happiness in a world that is getting more complicated each and every day People are not ment to be alone. It is not a falt of a gay man to be gay or lesbian to be a lesbian . All their lives they were probably told to play with dolls and or cars. boys will be boys girls will be girls. You can not hide who you are inside and if yu do than we would have a world of emotational delinquients Do we ask for children to be born with aids, cerybal palsey retarditation?N o we do not but we can see it. It is not hidden . What may be unnatural to us all , is what a gay or a lesbian has to go through in life to be happy. Accept it and let it go
