Ike Families Struggling to Get Back on Their Sleep Posted by Guest Blogger on October 2, 2008 at 5:48 pm

I don’t think that many of us underestimate the importance of a good nights rest for peace of mind and a productive lifestyle. One special charity, the Houston Children’s Charity is making sure that children can get a full nights rest throughout the aftermath of Hurricane Ike.

Children need the most rest, especially during years of brain development and physical growth.    Hurricane Ike and the subsequent aftermath were responsible for 143 deaths and is the third costliest hurricane in the history of the United States with the estimated damages at 28 billion dollars.   It in times of crisis on the level of Hurricane Ike countless people are thrust into homelessness or forced to live in severely damaged homes.

Many families were forced to sleep on the ground for weeks after the storm and many were not expecting back relief anytime soon until the Houston Children’s Charity came to the rescue with thousands of donated beds.   My heart goes out to the all of the people and families struggling to make ends meet, if you feel the same way and have an extra bed or you are upgrading mattresses soon, consider donating to Houston Children’s Charity and help a struggling family get back on its sleep.
